Bishop Ough Reassigned to West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church
The North Central Jurisdiction Committee on Episcopacy has announced the assignment of Bishop Bruce R. Ough to the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Bishop Ough, along with his wife, Char, have faithfully served in West Ohio for the last eight years, and will return for another quadrenium as the spiritual leader for more than 230,000 United Methodists in 1,188 congregations in 58 Ohio counties. For more information on Bishop Ough, visit
Within each jurisdiction, a committee on episcopacy consists of one clergy and one lay person from each annual conference. The committee is responsible for reviewing the work and character of the bishops, and the committee assigns the bishops to their areas. The jurisdictional conference has the authority to affirm or reject the assignments. If the conference rejects the assignments, the committee must make new assignments. The assignment for bishops elected at the 2008 jurisdictional conferences becomes effective Sept. 1, 2008. Click HERE to read a copy of Bishop's Ough's letter in response to his re-assignment to the West Ohio area.
